Summer 2023 Available Positions
Small Group Counselor
Provide 24-hour leadership for 6-10 campers in a residential camp setting. Work collaboratively with a different co-counselor each week to plan and lead outdoor activities and daily small group Bible studies. Encourage the development of Christian community and individual character. During the summer, work with a variety of ages (grades 1-12) and a variety of themed and specialty programs for six themed weeks of camp.
Plan, organize, and lead musical activities for grades 1-12. Lead campfire singing and music for worship. Lead catalogue of camp graces for every meal. Ability to play keyboard or guitar is helpful.
Design and lead age-appropriate nature activities and programs for grades 1-12. Connect campers and staff with the natural world. Incorporate the summer curriculum theme into nature activities. Teach and model care for creation.
Responsible for safe operation of Camp Asbury’s natural waterfront and aquatic activities at camp. Responsible for safety of aquatic activities on day-trips off-site. Provide leadership for general camp activities. Ability to teach canoeing or kayaking skills is helpful.
Organize and lead sessions on Camp Asbury’s Low Ropes and High Ropes courses, and Giant Swing. Be comfortable working at heights and facilitating conversation for small groups. Supervisory experience recommended but not required. Maintain equipment and promote a safe atmosphere for staff and campers.
Assist with the planning and execution of all program related activities. Work in the office to create schedules and evaluations, and manage all paperwork related to registration, check-in, and program related events. Make phone calls to parents to confirm camper registrations.
Manage Camp Asbury’s social media accounts during the summer season. Take pictures and videos of campers and staff participating in all Camp Asbury activities. Create flyers and advertisements for Camp Asbury events and promote Camp Asbury to the local communities. Create summer staff slideshow.
Work as a Camp Asbury summer staff member, with the opportunity to remain on staff into the retreat season. Work under Camp Asbury directors to learn about the process of managing retreat groups and providing hospitably to them while on site. Learn how to book groups, do hands-on programming, and create new methods for recruiting and support retreat groups.
